Children at Warrington Road Nursery School and Children's Centre in Halton enjoyed West African music and stories as part of efforts to boost awareness of different cultures.
Acclaimed dancer Gaspard Zamble and his group Zambledance visited the centre in April and taught three- and four-year-olds basic drumming techniques. The children also enjoyed West African legends and dances.
The centre is keen to expose children in the predominantly white area to different cultures and parts of the world, explains head teacher Fiona Kirby. "We have a strong international ethos and are twinned with a kindergarten in China. We did some Chinese dancing last year," she says.
