Small schools in rural areas can struggle to offer stimulating holiday activities. That's why the North Cornwall Activities Network, part of Cornwall County Council, and North Cornwall District Council are working in partnership to offer a packed holiday programme.
Activities offered through the district's five leisure centres range from extreme sports such as rock climbing and surfing to tennis and football. Jon Bell, extended activities co-ordinator for North Cornwall, works with 55 schools, some of which are tiny. "In a remote rural area like North Cornwall, it would be completely impossible for each school to offer these kind of extended activities," he says.
