What is it? The Equitable Charitable Trust was established in 1984 to distribute profits from a commercial school fee investment plan.
Since then it has made more than £23m of grants to support education for disabled or disadvantaged children and young people. Although the school fee plan has ended and the trust is likely to close in the future, it is currently able to make grants each year totalling approximately £1m.
How much is on offer? The trust offers grants of £3,000 to £30,000, which can range from one to three years. Most of the grants made are between £5,000 and £20,000.
