What is it? The Prince's Trust has helped more that 600,000 young people since it was established in 1976. Its Community Cash Awards are grants to help young people aged 15 to 24 set up a project that will benefit their community. Along with the money, the Prince's Trust offers support to help plan the project, research the budget and set goals for the young people to learn about their community.
How much is on offer? Grants of up to £3,000 are available, although the average amount given is £1,500.
What will it fund? To be eligible to receive the grant the young person managing the project must be either aged 14 to 16 and holding or at risk of acquiring less than five A*-C GCSEs, or aged 16 to 25 and not in education, employment or training. The project must clearly benefit the local community and the young people running it. The grant is not intended for formal groups or organisations.
