Funding of up to £1,000 is available for 14 to 16-year-olds, while 16 to 25-year-olds can gain up to £5,000. To be eligible young people must either be at risk of achieving less than five GCSEs at grades A to C or not in education, employment or training. Projects must be managed by young people and clearly benefit the local community. Funding is for new or developing projects and is not for formal groups or organisations. Examples of successful schemes include one at Lochgelly High School in Fife, which saw a group of pupils clear land to create a bike track.
