I'm 23 now and can genuinely say I have come out the other side a better person. I've had a lot of opportunities to do volunteering, such as training foster carers and social workers, planned and facilitated training for people on foster panels - the panel which decides who becomes a foster carer. I was able to represent other young people in care and let adults know how we should be treated. I have met with Anne Whitely, director of young people's services for Devon council, and corporate parenting groups to tell them how care services should be improved.
More recently I have trained with Young Devon's Participation in Action Project as a young assessor and have been assessing care leaver services across the South West.
I have done so much that has benefited myself and others. I am now a mum to three children with a fourth on the way and my experiences make me so determined to give my children a good life.
