NCB Now: Young people take protest film to Gove

1 min read
A film starring Young NCB members was delivered to Education Secretary Michael Gove at the Department for Education on Thursday 2 June.

Three members joined other young people from a coalition of young people's and environmental organisations to make the short film, which calls for more to be done to assess the impact of public transport cuts, especially on young people. The film also highlights concerns that young people's views are not being taken into account when transport funding decisions are being made.

Many young people are particularly concerned about cuts to support for travelling to post-16 education and training opportunities. On Tuesday 31 May, councils published their new home to college transport policies with some planning to axe all support for post-16 travel.

Young NCB member, Ben, 15, took part in making the film and was also in the delegation that delivered the film. He said: "I hope that this will raise awareness of the issues to the public. Transport cuts are affecting young people's lives and because of this, there should be a major rethink."
