NCB Now: Young NCB speaks out on bus cuts

1 min read
Young NCB members are taking an active role in trying to protect the local bus services that are vital for them to access school, college, work and leisure opportunities.

Three Young NCB members have taken part in making a film for the Save our Buses campaign co-ordinated by the Campaign for Better Transport. Their motivation to get involved comes from concern over the current cuts to bus services, particularly in rural areas, and the abolition of the Education Maintenance Allowance, which many students rely on to pay travel costs for post-16 education.

Their message is clear; education is a right, and transport to access education should also be a right. They believe nobody should miss out on opportunities because they are unable get to class.

NCB is developing a programme of work to give young people the confidence to use public transport more. It will also support transport operators and decision makers to engage with young people to ensure their services meet the needs of young people.

The film will be available soon on www.youtube.com/watchncb where you can also watch other films featuring members of Young NCB.
