NCB Now: Campaigners meet transport minister

1 min read
Earlier this month, a group of young campaigners from NCB and the British Youth Council (BYC) met with the minister for transport, Norman Baker, to discuss how bus services could be improved for young people.

Two guides developed by Passenger Transport Executive Group, NCB and BYC were launched at the meeting.
One of the guides aims to help professionals in the bus sector work with young people to improve their services.

The other offers young people advice on how they can influence transport providers to improve bus services where they live. The guides have been backed by the Department for Transport and Department for Education.

At the meeting, the young campaigners shared with the minister how they have worked in their local areas to help make buses safer, more affordable and accessible for young people.

Young NCB member Grace, 15, attended the launch. She said: "I live in a rural area and I really worry about affordable transport to post-16 education. I hope these guides will show people who make decisions about bus services that young people should be involved in planning those services."
