Charities encourage young bus users to influence local services

1 min read Youth Work
The British Youth Council and the National Children's Bureau have launched two guides to encourage transport providers to involve young people in the development of local bus services.

The guides have been written together with the Passenger Transport Executive Group (PTEG) with backing from the Department for Transport and Department for Education.

The guide, How Can I Make Buses Better?, is aimed at young people and offers tips on how they can influence local providers, such as getting involved in local public consultations and running promotional campaigns.

The other guide, Working With Young People to Make Buses Better, is aimed at transport providers and argues that young people can help them improve their service.

Among case studies in this guide is the work of Transport for London’s youth panel, which has included young disabled people acting as mystery shoppers.
