
The meeting was one of a series of ministerial round tables to consult with representatives of schools, transport providers, local government and young people, and gather evidence that will inform a review of home to school and college transport.
UKYP members discussed a range of issues including cost and quality of transport with children’s minister Tim Loughton and transport minister Norman Baker.
The ministers are also due to feed into an inquiry into transport being held by the youth select committee in July.
Loughton said: “I take the concerns of young people very seriously. The discussion was incredibly helpful in improving our understanding of the difficulties faced by young people in travelling to school.
