Youth services: Youth work earns committee voice

A group covering communities, families and youth issues will be one of nine policy committees proposed for the Association of Directors of Children's Services, which is being formed from the merger of the Confederation of Children's Services Managers (Confed) and part of the Association of Directors of Social Services. The organisation will be launched in February.

Members will be consulted over the next few weeks on the committee structure. David Hawker, chair of the Association of Directors of Education and Children's Services, part of Confed, said: "We expect to give a strong voice to the youth work sector in that committee."
