The targeted youth support trials, which evaluate ways to improve support for vulnerable young people, have been receiving help from the Training and Development Agency for Schools. The last of three conferences to share project managers' findings will be held in York on Friday. Their experiences are feeding into a guide to help other authorities redesign services.
Another common theme is focusing efforts on disadvantaged areas to achieve "quick wins", which can act as a model for similar areas.
Worcestershire County Cou-ncil has focused on eight- to 19-year-olds in east Worcester, one of the most disadvantaged areas of the city, as well as the rural areas of Honeybourne and Pebworth.
