Youth green paper: Fourteen local authorities to run youth support team pilots

Between now and March 2006 the pathfinder authorities will plan the reform of targeted support outlined in Youth Matters, with trials of youth support teams taking place between April and September.

The teams, which could include specialist professionals such as youth workers, Connexions personal advisers and social workers, would be responsible for providing most of a young person's support needs, in a variety of settings including schools.

As well as targeted support for individual young people co-ordinated by a lead professional, the teams are designed to enable early identification of needs through universal services and to help young people access specialist services.
