Members of the South East Youth Partnership, which includes principal youth officers and voluntary sector representatives, will meet next month to decide what level of subscription fees will have to be introduced to fund the unit.
They will decide on how the unit should be staffed: a consultant commissioned by youth services to carry out specific project work for the region; a regional co-ordinator enlisted on secondment; or directly employing somebody to oversee the unit's work.
This is the first time youth work organisations in southeastern England will have somebody in place to develop youth work for their region. The unit will cover training, quality, and support for youth services in implementing the Youth Matters green paper proposals.
