Youth Service: Strike ballot to go ahead if employer pay talks fail

1 min read

Leaders of the Community and Youth Workers' Union (CYWU) have agreed to ballot members unless a solution is found to the latest dispute, which conciliation service Acas will attempt to iron out in meetings later this month.

The CYWU will be holding a national meeting tomorrow (2 September) to plan its course of action, insisting it will go ahead with a strike if necessary.

The dispute centres on the timing of implementation of a new pay and grading structure for youth workers, which was agreed by the Joint Negotiating Committee in May.
