Youth justice: Board to consult on behaviour code

The Youth Justice Board is to launch a consultation on a draft code of practice for managing behaviour in the secure estate for juveniles.

This adds to its on-going review of restraint techniques and behaviour management, which aims to produce guidelines.

In the next two weeks Government ministers are also to receive a report on the use of restraint in the juvenile estate.

It follows the death of 15-year-old Gareth Myatt in April last year while being restrained by staff at Rainsbrook secure training centre.
