Youth club: Oldham centre in doubt after blaze

The future of a popular youth club in Oldham remains unclear after the centre was burned down in a suspected case of arson.

Crews from four fire stations were called to the Limehurst Youth Centre to tackle the fire when flames engulfed the building on 30 January.

Oldham Borough Council is making temporary alternative arrangements for the young people, and workers are campaigning for the centre to be rebuilt.

Alun Francis, service director for children, young people and families at the council, said: "We do know that the fire was severe, but will not know the cost of the damage or whether the building can be repaired or rebuilt until it is assessed by our insurer's loss adjustors."
