The charity has received 32,000 from the department's Section 64 General Scheme of Grants to Voluntary Organisations stream for 2006-07. It is the first year of a three-year 112,000 grant.
Lisa Nandy, policy adviser on young refugees at the society, said: "Many refugee families have serious health needs based on their past experiences." The Calm Project, a mental health service aimed at young men aged 15 to 35, has also received 45,000 from Sector 64.
