Funding watch: Who's getting money and who's giving it - Newchildren's health projects secure funding

More than 20 children's charities received funding last week through the Department of Health's 17.2m Section 64 grant scheme.

Section 64 grants support voluntary groups working in health and socialcare. As well as grants for existing projects, the 2006/07 round offunding is also paying for a number of new ones.

They include 46,000 to help premature baby charity Bliss producea parent information guide and 30,000 for a teenage pregnancyawareness project run by the baby charity Tommy's.

The Tommy's project will help teenage mums-to-be have a healthypregnancy.

A spokeswoman said: "Poor pregnancy outcomes in teenagers are linked tothe nutrition of the mum. We aim to identify those most at risk andensure they stay healthy."

The Children's Society received 32,000 for its Family HealthInclusion Project. Other groups to secure funding included the Councilfor Disabled Children, the Foyer Federation, and The Place2Be.
