Among the projects receiving grants is the Blind Centre for NorthernIreland. The centre got 129,439 for its three-year Vision 4 Lifeproject that will improve the skills of up to 120 visually impairedyoung people.
Another beneficiary is the teenage pregnancy project run by AltnagelvinHospitals' Health and Social Services Trust. Thanks to a 113,649grant, the project will be able to extend its work with 13- to19-year-olds to Limavady and Strabane.
And 148,086 went to the Northern Ireland Cancer Fund for Childrento help it support more than 800 young people in the province who have abrother or sister who has cancer.
Paul Cavanagh, a member of the lottery's Northern Ireland board, said:"I am delighted to be announcing the first round of projects that arehelping young people to be healthy, contribute to their community andovercome economic disadvantage."
