Grants totalling 9.6m have been given to organisations that runvolunteering and mentoring projects, including a number of schemesworking with children and young people under 18 years old.
One of the largest grants went to Chance UK to disseminate its knowledgeon mentoring children aged five to 11 in danger of being excluded fromschool. The project, which has received 119,455 over two years,will also support parents and carers.
Gracia McGrath, chief executive of Chance UK, said: "This project isabout telling other organisations about good practice and how best tosupport children with behavioural difficulties."
A grant also went to Bolton Lads and Girls Club. The 116,000grant is for a mentoring scheme helping disadvantaged 13- to18-year-olds.
