The young people conducted research on settlement for The Children'sSociety. Aminata, 22, one of the volunteers, said: "Young people don'twant to be called refugees, they just want to integrate. They get a bitdown if you label them as refugees as they say they've been treatedhorribly because of that name and if you remove the label they can betreated like anyone else."
The research showed that young people think integration should startfrom the day they arrive in the UK, rather than when they get refugeestatus.
Lisa Nandy, policy adviser at The Children's Society said: "Integrationand support should happen on day one. We're not assuming that peoplewill stay, but young people should feel welcome from when theyarrive."
