Young people design Olympic-themed playground mural

Young people in Hackney have started to transform a derelict playground by painting an Olympic-themed mural as part of a 1m project to improve open spaces for sport and leisure activities in neighbourhoods that will host the 2012 Olympic Games.

Local children worked to revamp the playground, which was next to the offices of the Hackney Quest children's charity. "Our young people worked with the local community on a joint project to turn the playground into a space we could all use and enjoy," said Hackney Quest's project director Colette Allen.
