The consultation underpins last year's launch of the government's Youth Alcohol Action Plan, which set out to tackle the issues and risks associated with unsupervised drinking in public places.
Young people that currently drink are now drinking more frequently and in larger quantities, which has a negative effect on families and communities. The guidance aims to give both parents and young people clear advice on how alcohol affects health, and what the boundaries should be when it comes to introducing young people to alcohol.
The consultation is aimed at parents, young people aged under 18 and professionals in education, health and children's services.
