Youth worker and project co-ordinator Kama McKenzie set up Maidstone Young Families two years ago. McKenzie said the idea for the group came after she had her son Callum, at the age of 19, and felt there wasn't enough support available for young parents.
"I was rather shocked by how people treated me, as if I was the odd one out because I was so young," she said.
The group, which McKenzie described as a cross between a mums and toddlers group and a youth club, runs services such as health visitors, training and social events.
There are now three groups running in Maidstone. McKenzie hopes to use the Lottery money to continue existing work and form groups elsewhere in Kent.
