
The group was chaired and had its agenda set by the Alliance for Child-Centred Care's young people's group, whose chosen theme for the event was promoting positive images of children in care.
Just before the meeting, the group poses outside the Houses of Parliament in masks - an image it hopes will prompt people to see beyond the stereotypes of children in care.
For Katie, a 13-year-old, who has travelled down from Birmingham to join seven other looked-after young people to host the meeting, the photocall and event is an opportunity to dispel some of the myths surrounding children in care.
Sitting before a packed committee room, which can barely contain the streams of young people there to hear the message, Katie and the rest of the panel speak of the need for children in care to be treated with respect and equality.
