The alliance has been set up as part of the implementation of theBlueprint Project, a partnership between NCB and Voice for the Child inCare. The project worked with young people, practitioners andpolicy-makers to create a blueprint for child-centred care, launched inFebruary 2004.
They identified four key messages: children and young people's needsshould always come first; more effort is needed to help young peoplemaintain relationships with family, friends and carers; children andyoung people should be actively involved in decisions about their lives;and bureaucratic processes need to be minimised to better serve childrenand young people as individuals.
In the next phase of the project, the alliance will work with a group ofyoung people in and leaving care to steer the campaigning focus and helpdeliver the messages to those making and implementing decisions.
