The alliance is one outcome of the Blueprint project, which consultednearly 400 young people on how they would like to improve the caresystem.
The project was carried out by Voice for the Child in Care inpartnership with NCB's Children's Residential Care Unit.
The event focused on relationships. Young people involved in Blueprintidentified relationships as critical to their wellbeing. Yetrelationships with family, friends and social workers can become morefragmented with each new placement.
"When you are in care, any relationships are special because you don'thave many people in your life that truly want to be there," said oneyoung person.
The Alliance for Child-Centred Care will build on the work of Blueprintand other studies into children's views. It aims to engage all thoseconcerned with children and young people in care in working towards asystem that is truly centred around children's needs.
