Workplace: Who's in your meetings? - Jane Humphries, programme manager for Cumbria Children's Fund

1 min read
What exactly do you do? I ensure that the Children's Fund is doing its job in Cumbria - planning and reviewing progress, commissioning the right services, ensuring that projects are delivering results, consulting other bodies and making sure that the money comes in and is well spent.

Describe a typical day After a drive to work through beautiful scenery, I might meet with the team to look at priorities on the work plan or attend a meeting of one of the local groups - there are five across Cumbria because of the county's scale and diversity. I love to see for myself the benefits of our work but I don't get to visit projects as much as I'd like.

What other agencies, and who else within your organisation, do you have to work with? As a Children's Fund we have all sorts of contacts with voluntary, community and statutory organisations: NCH, Barnardos, NSPCC, smaller local voluntary organisations, health, education (including many schools) and social services.
