What are your main responsibilities?

I will have responsibility for children's services.

What did you do before?

For the past six years I have worked within Oldham education andcultural services as assistant director for inclusion. Prior to that Iwas principal educational psychologist at Tameside. I also worked as ateacher.

What was your best career decision?

The move to North East Lincolnshire. While the council has haddifficulties and there are still challenges ahead, I have been impressedwith recent improvements. Innovative partnership arrangements havealready yielded significant improvements.

What made you decide to get into children's services?

The need for improvement. We spend too much time on assessment and notenough on intervention.
