What are your main responsibilities?

The safety, health, welfare and education of more than 46,000 childrenand young people, and delivering outcomes in accordance with theChildren Act 2004.

What did you do before?

I was acting director of education and lifelong learning forKnowsley.

What was your best career decision?

Coming to Knowsley in 2000. I found a borough full of challenges andopportunities where innovation has impact and is rewarded.

What made you decide to get into children's services?

My original motivation to become a teacher 20 years ago still holdstrue: to make a difference by working with children to help them achievetheir potential, and to develop in a career with prospects.
