Workforce Reform: Union regulations vetoed by congress

As part of a five-part motion, the CYWU asked the TUC to back a system of regulation, overseen by a general youth and children's workers' council.

But members of other unions affected by the new proposal said they were not prepared to endorse the motion. The disagreement means the CYWU's motion has been sent back for further discussion in a meeting of interested unions.

Doug Nicholls, general secretary of the CYWU, said: "We need further discussion on how to progress the need for better regulation and licensing." Nicholls was elected to the general council of the TUC.
