Workforce Reform: Blueprint to bring services under a single roof

In the Every Child Matters: Change for Children guidance document, which was published last week, the Government suggests that children's centres or extended schools would be possible locations for these groups of senior staff. Where this is not practical, managers will be asked to promote "virtual team working", where teams operate in similar ways even though they are not in the same place.

The Government will also introduce a "common core of skills and knowledge" for everyone working with young people (YPN, 1-7 December, p5), and will review National Occupational Standards to make sure they reflect its wider aims for children's services.
