When Paul Ennals moved into teaching from his role as a children's residential social worker, he had to start his training from scratch, despite both roles sharing a common foundation of skills.

Now, years later, in his role as chair of the newly formed Children's Workforce Network (England), Ennals - who is also chief executive of the National Children's Bureau - is working to break down barriers between professions involved with children and young people. His efforts are part of the Children's Workforce Strategy, a Government drive to create a more coherent workforce in the children and youth sector, and to improve multi-agency working.
