Workforce Reforms: Connexions fears single framework

In its response to the consultation on the Government's Children's Workforce Strategy, the association forecasts that a new career framework will cause wages to go up and services to compete for a limited supply of staff (YPN, 13-19 April, p8).

"This strategy does not address the economic impact of increasing and developing the qualifications for the children's workforce," reads the association's response.

It is also calling for the Government to make academic routes into work with children and young people more affordable. And it warns that the six core skill areas must not be delivered at the expense of specialist skills, such as guidance.
