Workforce development: Workers to give opinions in occupation review

Sector skills council Lifelong Learning UK is setting up a steering group of stakeholders and employers from across the UK to lead the review into youth work's National Occupational Standards. The first meeting will take place in mid to late September. Consultation events will follow across the four nations.

The current occupational standards were produced in 2002. They form the basis of qualifications and job descriptions, as well as the youth work curriculum and assessment procedures.

Steve Drowley, quality standards manager at The National Youth Agency, said the review would be an opportunity to highlight the distinctiveness of youth work within integrated children and young people's services.
