The Apprenticeships have been developed by Lifelong Learning UK, the sector skills council that represents youth work. The skills council already has responsibility for registering and certificating Modern Apprenticeships in Scotland.
The Apprenticeships are for young people aged 16 and above. They provide a qualification at NVQ Level 3, as well as core skills and work-based training, giving access to employment in youth work or higher education.
Young People Now understands that two awarding bodies, ABC and City & Guilds, have produced technical certificates for the English Apprenticeships and the qualifications have been approved by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority, with endorsement from The National Youth Agency (NYA).
