The National Youth Agency: Agency to lead the development of youth sector qualification strategy

The National Youth Agency is to lead on work developing a new youth work sector draft qualification strategy and vocational qualifications.

Here NYA Associate Network consultant Sunita Grigg explains the background to the work and how you can get involved to ensure the strategy and the associated qualifications meet the sector's needs.

Following a request by Lifelong Learning UK (LLUK) to the National Youth Agency (NYA) in November last year, and LLUK being informed in January 2010 that the United Kingdom Commission for Employment and Skills had withdrawn funding for the development of units, as well as the qualifications strategy and qualification specifications for youth work, NYA representatives held discussions with LLUK and education and training standards colleagues in Wales and Northern Ireland to explore options.
