Money is a bigger worry to 16- to 24-year-olds than career prospects, relationships or health issues, according to a poll commissioned by Citizens Advice, adviceUK and Youth Access. More than half of the young adults who responded cited money as their principal worry.
Concerns about the welfare of family members and problems at work were the next most prevalent worries, followed by the threat of terrorism, which was a cause of unease for 22 per cent of the respondents.
Only one in 10 of those asked said they would consider approaching an advice agency for help with problems. And one in three said that they didn't have time to deal with their worries.
