Phrase: Inclusion
Where you might hear it: Practically anywhere, but check who's doing the speaking as they probably mean something different depending on what sector they are from.
What does it mean: In the disability sector, it means disabled and non-disabled children learning and taking part in activities together, although sometimes it can mean disabled children having access to the same opportunities as non-disabled children but not necessarily in the same place. However, inclusion can also refer to social inclusion. In this instance it can mean making sure that everyone, no matter what their circumstances, can achieve their potential in life.
How to use it: Work towards providing "inclusive" facilities for marginalised groups of children and young people. Use "inclusion" as a quick way of saying equal opportunities for everyone.
