Work Wise: Funding Watch - Connecting Communities Plus

1 min read
What it is: Connecting Communities Plus is a grants scheme intended to fund organisations, including youth and children's groups that are working towards Improving Opportunity, Strengthening Society, the government's initiative on race equality and community cohesion. The programme is currently entering a third and final round of funding. This last round will focus particularly on supporting projects that recognise the legacy of the slave trade and its effect on contemporary society.

How much is on offer? The total amount on offer for round three has not yet been confirmed. However, individual grant values are between £6,000 and £12,000. Due to the popularity of the programme only about nine per cent of applicants receive funding.

What will it fund? The fund will support projects that improve access and outcomes for black and minority ethnic communities in education, employment, health, housing and the criminal justice system, as well as schemes that develop confidence in public services. It will also fund organisations that tackle racism or extremism and unite communities made up of different races and faiths.
