Work Wise: Funding briefs

Disabled and deaf arts charity Shape has been awarded 11,380 from the BBC Children in Need appeal. The money will fund a series of one-day arts workshops for deaf primary school children in London. www.shapearts.org.uk

The government agency the Housing Corporation has awarded £800,000 to 16 projects nationwide. One of the projects was youth project Shout in Oxford, which received cash for a scheme encouraging respect between young and elderly people.

Wrexham karate enthusiasts are to benefit from a £940 Community Chest grant. It will fund the re-opening of a club that has been closed for a year.

Greenlight Recycling has won £183,100 from the Big Lottery Fund. The project will educate young people about working in the recycling industry.
