The 1973 Employment of Children Act should be repealed because it has been superseded by later legislation, such as the Children (Protection at Work) Regulations 1998, according to a report by the Law Commission on redundant legislation.

A stint in a school abroad can significantly enhance the language teaching skills of trainee primary school teachers. A study by Ofsted found teachers who undertook a four-week placement gained maturity and confidence. The report warns that, unless such training is funded, the government may struggle to meet targets laid out in its National Languages Strategy.

Children as young as four are being bought mobile phones, according to a survey by technology firm MobileLocators.com, which specialises in satellite equipment that allows parents to monitor their child's location from a mobile phone signal.
