One in seven young people in the UK would not remain friends with someone if they had HIV, an Ipsos Mori survey commissioned by the British Red Cross has found. The survey also showed a third of British young people are worried about getting HIV.

- Scottish Government figures show domestic abuse is more likely to occur in households with children. The Scottish Crime and Victimisation Survey found three per cent of respondents said they had been attacked or threatened by a partner but the figure was two per cent higher among those with children.

- The Welsh Assembly Government has made training in the early years sector a priority following its latest national learning and skills assessment. Targets will include requiring all play leaders and senior staff to gain an NVQ Level 3 in play work by April next year.
