Wales: Prince's Trust scheme teaches young people land-based skills

1 min read

If successful, the Get Into Land project run by The Prince's Trust Cymru could expand to other areas in Wales and England.

The scheme is funded by Same Deutz-Fahr Tractors and is free to the young people. A group of 15 unemployed 16- to 25-year-olds in Pembrokeshire and Carmarthenshire will take part.

The aim is to give them experience in industries such as countryside management, agricultural engineering, horticulture and animal care.

A spokesman for The Prince's Trust Cymru said the project followed research by the trust showing a lack of expertise in land-based jobs other than farming. West Wales was chosen because the demand for these skills is increasing in the region.
