VOLUNTARY SECTOR: Anti-bullying charity to expand in north

The charity has applied for a Community Fund grant of 300,000 over three years.

Nicola Schofield, project manager, said: "Our objective is to educate on bullying. We don't get core funding so we plan to offer our training courses to organisations outside schools and have already provided training for British Gas, and the Lesbian and Gay Switchboard."

Separately, Millennium Volunteers working with Bully Free Zone contributed 500,000 worth of community work last year.

Around 330 volunteers clocked up 40,000 hours carrying out anti-bullying projects in primary and secondary schools.
