Volant Charitable Trust

1 min read Funding
Harry Potter author JK Rowling set up the trust to help charities striving to alleviate poverty and social deprivation, with a particular emphasis on children's and women's issues.

Now in its 15th year, the trust also funds research into the causes, treatment and possible cures of Multiple Sclerosis.

What will it fund? The Volant Charitable Trust primarily funds projects that seek to help children and women affected by poverty and deprivation to turn their lives around. Funding is geared towards covering the running costs of particular projects, although applications to support core costs of an organisation at key stages in its development, such as start-up, restructuring or expansion are considered. Only in exceptional circumstances would grants exceed three years, and regular annual payments are considered. Applications for capital programmes or from those for projects overseas are not considered.
