The National Youth Agency: Young adult learners get connected

1 min read

Erica Lloyd, 17, has achieved accreditation for all nine units through her involvement with the Itec e2e programme in Oakham. "I was really happy when I completed all nine units," she says. "I felt I did some good work." Erica is clear about the progress she has made: "Getting Connected encouraged me to identify and record things that I wouldn't normally think about, for example my own views and opinions. It also helped me to understand other people more."

Becky White, training and development consultant at Itec, is Erica's mentor. She is delighted by the progress made by all the young people using Getting Connected in her e2e programme. "All of our learners who have achieved accreditation with Getting Connected have gone on to undertake further courses such as adult literacy, numeracy or CLAIT," she says. "Using this curriculum has helped us develop positive and strong relationships with the young people we work with."
