St Colm's High School, Dunmurry (Ready, Steady, Grow); Issue Improving the school's image
THE SITUATION - Young people who were completing the Ready, Steady, Enterprise programme at the school were required to start their own business. Noticing that a disused greenhouse at the school had become an eyesore, they decided to clean it up and use it as an integral part of their four-year business plan. They planned to use the renovated greenhouse to grow plants and sell hanging baskets. This was welcomed by the principal.
WHAT CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE SAID
"I was embarrassed to have it (the greenhouse) outside the school before." "Everyone wants the school to look nice."
